KATHMANDU, JULY 25
Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly districts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces today, with the Meteorological Forecasting Division warning of continued monsoon activity across much of the country.
The Division said generally cloudy conditions will prevail over the hilly and Himalayan regions, while the Terai of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim will also remain mostly cloudy. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at several places in the hills and mountains and at a few locations in the Terai, while Madhesh and Koshi plains will remain partly cloudy with isolated showers.
Tonight, rainfall is expected to spread across most parts of the country. Heavy rain is forecast at one or two places in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki and Koshi provinces. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is also likely in the Himalayan and hilly areas of all provinces, with scattered showers extending into the Terai.
According to the Division, the country remains under the influence of the monsoon system. The monsoon trough is positioned north of its normal location over western Nepal, while remaining close to its average position over the eastern part of the country.
Among major cities, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Jiri and Taplejung have a 60 percent or higher chance of rainfall today, while several eastern districts are expected to see increased rain activity overnight. Maximum temperatures are forecast to range from 28–30°C in Kathmandu to 33–35°C in Janakpur and Nepalgunj.
