KATHMANDU, JULY 26
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces tonight, while monsoon conditions continue to affect the country.
According to the Division, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at many places in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, at some places in Koshi, Madhesh and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces overnight.
During the day, the hilly and Himalayan regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers at some places. A few areas in the Terai of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, along with isolated places in the Terai of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim, may also experience rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The Division said the country remains under the influence of the monsoon system, with the monsoon trough positioned near its normal location.
Among major cities, Pokhara, Jiri and Taplejung have the highest probability of rainfall during the day, while Kathmandu, Jiri, Pokhara and Biratnagar are likely to receive more widespread rainfall overnight. Temperatures are expected to range between 28–30°C in Kathmandu, while the hottest conditions are forecast for Simara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi, where daytime temperatures could reach 35–38°C.
