KATHMANDU: Minster for Federal Affairs and Local Development Hitraj Pandey has claimed that a consensus would be formed among major political parties in order to end the stalemate seen at the Parliament by Thursday. Speaking at a programme organised at the Reporters' Club in Kathmandu today, Minister Pandey reassured that even though the last meeting of the big three political parties with Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar was fruitless, the consensus would be formed on Thursday morning. Speaker Gharti has postponed the House meeting for Thursday. The Maoist leader, meanwhile, remained firm on his stand that the recent Constitution amendment bill proposed by the ruling coalition was for the betterment of the country and would work to unite the country rather than dividing it. The bill, hence, would not be withdrawn, he reiterated. Pandey also informed that the government was working to announce the dates for local elections. After the local elections, the government would move forward for elections at provincial and federal levels as they should be held by January 2018, he said.
