1 dead, 26 injured in Chitwan bus accident

CHITWAN: A man was killed and 26 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Chandibhanjyang VDC-6 along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section, in the wee hours of Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Dharma Raj Mandal (33) of Laxmipur Pataha in Siraha district, informed Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa. He died after being crushed between the seats when the accident occurred. According to Thapa, the bus (Na 4 Kha 5442) fell some 100 metres off the road while it was on its way to Malangwa from Kathmandu at around 12:40 am. The injured are being treated at the Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur. Among them, five are in critical condition. Police rescued the passengers from the bus stuck 20 metres away from the River with the help of a rope.
