Morang, December 30 Nepal APF Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 49 runs to win the men’s cricket gold medal of the seventh National Games here at the Baijnathpur grounds in Biratnagar today. Nepal Police Club claimed the bronze medal with a 33-run victory over Eastern Region. Batting first, APF scored 121-9 in 20 over before packing TAC for 72 in 17.4 overs in the gold-medal match. Skipper ParasKhadka top scored for APF with 33 off 38 balls that included one each four and six, while BhuwanKarki struck two boundaries and a six in his unbeaten 12-ball 24. PrithuBastola (12) was the other batsman to score in double figures for APF. Sompal Kami, Bikram Sob and Chandra Saud took two wickets each for TAC, while Sagar Pun and AvinashKarn pocketed one apiece. In reply, TAC were never in contention losing wickets at regular interval. NareshBudhayer (17) was the lone batsman who scored in two digits for TAC. BhuwanKarki was pick of APF bowlers with 4-11 from four overs, while Shakti Gauchan and YagyamanKumal took two wickets each. In the third-place playoff match, NPC scored 155-7 and restricted Central to122-8. Skipper ManjeetShrestha top scored for NPC with a fiery 36 off just 15 balls that included two fours and as many sixes, while opener DillipNatha scored 31 off 24 balls hitting three boundaries and two sixes. DipendraAiree (27), SiddhantLohani (23) and Aarif Sheikh (16) also contributed in double figures for NPC. RijanDhimal, Rashid Khan, Irshad Ahmad, SushilKandel, Hari Shankar Sah and Hasim Ansari took one wicket each for Central. In reply, Hari Shankar Sah scored half century but did not get support from others. Sah struck three fours and a six in his 54-ball 52, while JitendraThakuri scored 28 off 37 balls hitting two boundaries. Rashid Khan (17) and PawanShrestha (11) also scored in double figures. LalitBhandari was the pick of the NPC bowlers taking 3-16 from four overs, while Ram NareshGiri, Aarif Sheikh and SiddhantLohani grabbed one wicket each for NPC. Men’s football Nepal APF Club won the men’s football gold medal on the final day of the seventh National Games in Dharan today. APF defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 2-0 in the departmental derby riding on a brace from AnjanBista. Fed by Shyam Nepal, the national team member Bista opened the scoring in 14th minute after his shot from the edge of the box left TAC goalkeeper BikeshKuthu stunned. Bista added another goal in the 30th minute after Kuthu failed to judge the air ball. Nepal Police Club finished third with a 4-3 win over Central Region on Thursday. Fencing Nepal APF Club won the women’s Foil Team event gold medal in the second National Fencing Championship held under the seventh National Games. Central Region came second, while TAC finished third. In men’s section, TAC bagged gold ahead of APF and Central. In women’s Individual Foil event, Rama Singh Thakuri of TAC won gold, while ManidraThapa of APF bagged silver. TAC’s SunitaBudhathoki and APF’s UrmilaMajhi won bronze medals. In men’s section, Sanjip Lama of Central won gold beating TAC’s JalendraShahi, while AnupBhandari of APF and PurushottamKhatri of Central bagged bronze medals.
