1 dead, 24 injured in Tanahun bus accident

DAMAULI: A person died and 24 others were injured when a bus met with an accident at Byas Municipality-8 of Tanahun district along the Prithivi Highway on Thursday. According to Superintendent of Police Umesh Raj Joshi, the deceased has been identified as Harkasur Kami aka Hari Prasad (34) of Andheri Bhanjyang in Byas Municipality-9. Police said the bus (Ga 1 Kha 3288) was travelling to Damauli from Pokhara when the incident occurred at around 11:45 am today. Police said the four-wheeler lost its control and turned turtle along the road, obstructing the Highway for about half an hour. The injured passengers are being treated at various hospitals in the district. Six of the injured are said to be in critical condition. One of them have been referred to the Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu while five others have been referred to Pokhara for further treatment, Joshi informed. Driver of the bus, Bhimsen Narayan Shrestha of Manpang-1, was also injured in the accident. He is now under police custody for further investigation.
