Kathmandu, November 22:

The first prototype of the Calibre 360 concept chronograph, the first mechanical wrist chronograph to measure and display time to 1/100th of a second, has been sold at an auction in Geneva recently. Bidding at the special sale, it closed with the acquisition of this unique timepiece for the sum of 20’000 Swiss Franc (approximately Rs 1.12 million), the highest price ever achieved by a TAG Heuer timepiece in auction history. The proceeds from the sale of this avant-garde chronograph immediately entrusted to Cësar Menz, director of Musée de l’Horlogerie et del ‘Emaillerie (watch making and enamelwork museum) in Geneva. The event was organised under the direction of Osvaldo Patrizzi, president of Antiquorum, the Geneva auction house, famous for its sales of exceptional watches.

TAG Heuer, the world leader in prestigious chronographs since 1860, also made a generous donation to the museum, including a group of watches that encapsulate the brand’s amazing history in 12 exceptional chronographs. Developed in the TAG Heuer workshops at La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Calibre 360 Concept Chronograph is the most accurate model ever made. Thanks to the frequency of its balance wheel — which oscillates at 360,000 beats per hour, 10 times faster than any other chronograph and a rate that until recently was considered impossible — it is the first mechanical wrist chronograph.
