DHANGADHI: Team Chauraha Dhangadhi bulldozed their way through Rupendhehi Challengers to secure their place in play-off, riding on the blazing batting of skipper Paras Khadka on the eighth day of Dhangadhi Premier League played at the Seti Zone Police Office Ground in Dhangadhi on Monday. Defending champions in do-or-die situation had to win big to progress into play-off by chasing down a given target within 14 overs. They managed to attain their target in style as captain Khadka, who has been struggling with his form, post appendix operation, scored his tournaments' personal best of 42 runs of 21 balls as he plundered 2 humongous sixes and 7 boundaries to the fence. Rupandehi Challengers slumped to their first defeat of the tournament but still managed to progress into next round as table topper. Earlier, Rupandehi Challengers had won the toss and elected to bat first and managed to muster only 91 runs on board with the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Man-of-the-Match Lalit Rajbanshi tormented the opposition batting line-up with impressive figure of 4-2-5-4 and derailed Rupendhehi's unbeaten record in the tournament. Challengers had lost four wickets with 16 runs on the board, at one stage, were reeling at 42 runs for the loss of six wickets. Seven down batsman Prakash KC steadied the innings and rescued the team from being folded to paltry score. He helped his team to post a decent runs on board with his 49 runs off 34 balls as he belted 3 sixes and 4 fours. In reply, play-off berth at stake, Team Chauraha Dhangadhi in do-or-die situation, captain Khadka propelled them to victory with blistering batting performance. Prithu Baskota, Raju Rijal and Amar Rataula contributed 15, 13 and 13 runs respectively in the winning cause. After achieving the target within 11 overs and 54 balls to spare, Team Dhauraha Dhangadhi leapfrogged  Kanchanpur Iconic, with a better run rate and secured their play-off berth. After today's game, Rupandehi Challengers topped the table followed by Biratnagar Kings, Kathmandu Goldens and Team Chauraha Dhangadhi. The first qualifier would be played on Wednesday between the Rupandehi Challengers and Biratnagar Kings on the same venue, the winner would progress into the finals of the tournament. However, the looser would get another shot to make it to the finals, as they would play against the winner between the Kathmandu Goldens and Team Chauraha Dhangadhi of the second qualifier. In a six team tournament, however, top two teams would receive Rs 1.5 million and Rs 700,000 respectively. Man-of-the-match in every game receives Rs 10,000, while the player-of-the-series would get a TVS RTR 200 Apache motorcycle said the tournament co-ordinator Subash Shahi.
