Rautahat public school teachers stage sit-in

RAUTAHAT:  The Joint Temporary Teachers’ Struggle Committee Rautahat shut down local schools and staged a sit-in at District Education Office, Rautahat  for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. The committee Vice-chair Satyendra Jha led the sit-in. The teachers have demanded permanent status for all temporary teachers. Struggle Committee member Basant Jha warned of launching stern protest if their demands were not met by May 6. Headteacher of a Gaur-based secondary school Upendra  Jayaswal said schools in Gaur and other rural areas of the district had  pulled down their shutters to express solidarity with the agitating  teachers. Jayaswal demanded that the government should come up with a concrete plan to settle the issues raised by teachers.
