Attariya, May 5 Nepal APF Club registered their second straight victory and entered the semi-finals of the Ruslan Attariya Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament here today. The departmental side, who had defeated Milan Cricket Academy of Jhapa in the opening match, beat Kanchanpur Women’s Team by eight wickets in the Group A match and finished at the top. Batting first, Kanchanpur were bowled out for a paltry 35 runs in 12.3 overs. Opener Bindu Rawal was the top scorer with five runs and none of the batters were able to reach double figures. The Kanchanpur team total included 14 sundries. Sarita Magar, Sita Rana Magar, Karuna Bhandari and Binu Budha Magar took two wickets each for APF, while Sonu Khadka and Indu Barma claimed one wicket apiece. In reply, APF raced to victory in just five overs for the loss of two wickets. Opener Jyoti Pandey scored 12 off 11 balls hitting two boundaries, while Sita Rana Magar scored six. Sarita Magar (three) and Mamata Chaudhary (six) remained unbeaten. Dolly Bhatt took two wickets for Kanchanpur. Sita Rana Magar of APF was named the player-of-the-match. In another match, Rising Cricket Women of Kathmandu defeated Kailali District Cricket Academy by 17 runs. Batting first, Rising Cricket Women scored 137-6 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Kailali to 120-8. Aarati Bidari top scored for RCW with 22 off 20 balls, while Shahnaz Prabin and Laxmi Chaudhary scored 20 runs each for RCW. All three batters struck three boundaries apiece. Opener Pooja Nimavat hit four boundaries in her 11-ball 19, while Shanti Khatiwada remained unbeaten on eight-ball 11 that included two fours. Nery Thapa Magar scored 10 off 15 balls. Chadani Shah took 2-21, while Suman Bist, Anjali Chand and Laxmi Saud claimed one each for Kailali. In reply, Kailali reached 120-8. Nitu Bhandari scored 35 off 38 balls hitting five fours, while opener Manju Bokati scored 20 off 26 balls that included three fours. Kabita Kunwar scored a quick fire 17 off 14 balls with the help of a boundary. Ashmina Karmacharya took 3-10 from four overs for RCW, while Pooja Nimavat claimed 2-21. Aarati Bidari and Kriti Sen pocketed one wicket each. Pooja Nimavat was named the player-of-the-match. A total of six teams are competing in the first-ever women’s Twenty20 league tournament organised by United Attariya Sports Club under the sponsorship of Ruslan. Top two sides from both the groups after the league round will make it to the semi-finals. The winners and runners-up of the competition will get Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively, while the best player will take home Rs 25,000. Likewise, the best batter, bowler and wicketkeeper of the tournament will bag Rs 10,000 apiece.
