Kathmandu, May 22 The Supreme Court today refused to issue an interim order against the government’s decision to withdraw cases filed against cadres of agitating forces during the Madhes and Tharuhat movements. The government recently decided to treat Madhes and Tharuhat movements as political movements. In response to a writ filed by three petitioners, a single bench of Acting CJ Gopal Parajuli refused to issue an interim order but issued show cause notice. Advocate Kapil Dev Dhakal, Dwarikanath Dhungel, and Jagadish Chandra Baral had filed a writ petition yesterday saying the government’s decision to withdraw cases was against the constitutional provision and SC precedents. The petitioners have named the prime minister and council of ministers, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Office of the Attorney General the defendants in the case.
