Lalitpur, May 30 Himalayan Sherpa Club and Nepal Police Club registered victories in the Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Tournament here at the ANFA Complex grounds today. Himalayan Sherpa recorded a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Jawalakhel Youth Club in Group C, while NPC saw off Brigade Boys Club 1-0 in Group D match. Himalayan Sherpa’s Abinash Tamang scored first hat-trick of the tournament, while Rahul Gurung netted one. Jawalakhel’s Aruj Thapa scored a brace and Rabin Kumar Tamang also found the back of the nets. Abinash opened the scoring for Himalayan Sherpa in the 10th minute and doubled the tally in the 25th minute. Jawalakhel’s Aruj Thapa cut the deficit in the 31st minute through a spot kick kick after Himalayan Sherpa’s skipper Diwash Urau handled the ball inside the box. Rahul Gurung restored the two-goal lead of Himalayan Sherpa in the 34th minute. Aruj Thapa scored second goal for Jawalakhel in the 62nd minute, once again from the spot after Himalayan Sherpa’s Diwash Urau made a foul inside the box. Rabin Kumar Tamang levelled the scores for Jawalakhel in the 89th minute. Abinash then sealed the victory for Himalayan Sherpa when he completed the hat-trick with a goal in the injury time of the match. Similarly, NPC collected all three points against Brigade Boys Club, thanks to the solitary goal from Rejin Subba in the injury time of first half. On Wednesday, Rum Pum Jhapa-XI will take on Saraswoti Youth Club in Group A match, while Tribhuvan Army Club will play against Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club in Group B match.
