16th World Day Against Child Labour marked across country

KATHMANDU: The 16th World Day Against Child Labour has been marked organising various programmes across the country on Monday. On the occasion, Department of Labour under the Ministry of Labour and Employment organised a rally in the Capital this morning. The rally begun from Tinkune and went through Naya Baneshwor and Thapa Gaun before converging into a corner meeting at the Maitighar Mandala. Addressing the function Director General of the Department Bhuwan Acharya appealed everybody to make efforts from their houses to bring child labour to an end. Moreover, child right workers went on a march in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City of Sunsari district this morning. 'In conflicts and disasters, protect children from child labour' is the theme of this year's World Day Against Child Labour. The occasional day was launched in 2002 by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to focus attention on the child labour which is prevalent globally and also to carry out necessary actions needed to eliminate it.
