Jhapa DLRO officer imprisoned for abduction, forgery

BANIYANI: A government official who was found guilty of an abduction and document forgery case has been sent to jail on Wednesday.
The Jhapa District Court ordered the imprisonment of Tikaram Luitel, a non-gazetted first class officer at the District Land Revenue Office, Jhapa, following his failure to post bail amount of Rs 5 million on the same charge.
Luitel, along with 16 others, has been accused of abducting Jiban Bista of Pathari Sanishchare in Morang district five months ago and trying to claim his land worth millions of rupees by the means of forgery.
Acting on a complaint by the victim, police had arrested six suspects following the incident. Four including Luitel have already been imprisoned while two have been released on bail.
Meanwhile, search is on for 11 others who are on the run, the District Police Office said.
