Kathmandu, July 8 Nil Kumar Thapa won the title of the We Are All Able, a charity golf tournament, here at the Gokarna Golf Club today. Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the nine-handicap amateur golfer Thapa accumulated 40 points to finish first. He received round ticket to Singapore from Silk Air. Ang Tshiring Sherpa finished runner-up with 38 points. Aarti Rana lifted the women’s section award with 28 points, while Prithivi Malla won the gross section title with 36 points. Lt Gen KNS Thapa won the senior section trophy with 30 points, whereas Mayank Dahal was the junior section winner with 33 points. Tashi Dong won the most birdies award with five birdies, while Sanjiv Rai claimed the longest drive trophy and Ang Dendi Sherpa took the closest-to-the-pin award. A total of 56 golfers took part in the tournament, which was organised by the Ability Development Society of Nepal. Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha, President of ADSoN Rabindra Raj Pandey, Executive Director Nirmala Gyawali, Nepal Golf Association President Tashi Ghale and Captain of Gokarna Golf Club Joseph Nathan gave away prizes to the winners. Meanwhile, Chinese golfer Wang Zongkai donated Rs 100,000 to ADSoN. The event was supported by Gokarna Golf Club, Nepal SBI Bank, Himalayan Bank, Laxmi Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Kathmandu Medical College, Carlsberg, Sri Investment and Finance Company, Silk Air, Buddha International Travels and Tours, Meghabyte Travels and Tours, and Sumegh Travel and Tours. Winner Thapa put the Kathmandu-Singapore-Kathmandu air ticket in lucky draw and Bhairaja Pandey, who won the ticket, put that on auction with proceeds going to ADSON. Bijay Bahadur Shrestha bought ticket for Rs 41,500. ADSoN had raised more than Rs 600,000 each from the previous two editions of the event to support the Disabled New Life Centre based at Thali, Kathmandu, a home for 40 children with physical disability. Fund was utilised to conduct various programmes that supported the Persons with Disabilities.
