Pokhara, August 22 A board meeting of Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee today decided to repair and manage Prithvichowk-based Pokhara buspark in Kaski. The meeting was chaired by Sundar Kumar Shrestha, the committee chairperson, and included the Mayor of Pokhara -Lekhnath metropolis Man Bahadur GC, along with other members. As per the decision, all land belonging to the proposed Prithvichowk buspark will be managed and all buses will be parked inside. “All passengers will board the bus only at the buspark,” said the committee Chair Shrestha. It will contribute a lot in managing traffic and traffic congestion on the roads of Pokhara, he added. Earlier, Pokhara Valley Town development Committee had taken initiatives to manage the buspark more than four decades ago setting aside a total of 205 ropani land at Prithvichowk. The land has been encroached and some part of it had been eroded by the Seti River. There is only 81 ropani land left at present. “The committee will forge necessary coordination with Pokahara-Lekhnath metropolis to manage the buspark,” said Shrestha. Of the 205 ropani, the highway occupied 18 ropani, 44 ropani was distributed to the locals as compensation while preparations are underway to manage a green belt in 62 ropani land. Meanwhile, senior advocate Krishna Bahadur Thapa has been appointed legal advisor of Pokhara Valley Town Development Committee. The committee’s board meeting held today decided to this effect. “As we have been facing various complaints and cases, we decided to appoint Thapa as our legal adviser,” said the committee’s Chair Shrestha. The town development committee is planning to construct a well-furnished buspark in 81 ropani land for Rs 110 million. As many as 554 families are residing in encroached land as squatters.
