Rautahat, August 30 A group of women affiliated to Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal staged a demonstration in Rautahat district headquarters Gaur today seeking election ticket for Kiran Thakur for the post of deputy mayor from Gaur Municipality. Supporters of Thakur gheraoed the Gaur-based Siya Palace Hotel, where RJP-N was holding its District Working Committee meeting. However, they ended their demonstration after a participant of the meeting assured them that women would get respectable positions in the election. “As they said they haven’t yet finalised the names of election candidates and assured us that they would give women respectable positions, we had to end our protest,” said Gita Kushwaha, a leader of the demonstration. She also added that they were waiting for the meeting’s decision. Meanwhile, it is learnt from party insiders that the party has finished its preparation to field Ajaya Gupta as its mayoral candidate from Gaur Municipality. The preparation to field Gupta, who lost in two Constituent Assembly elections in the past, has irked party cadres.
