PM stresses infrastructure development

Kathmandu, September 2 Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that the government is ready to make investment friendly laws to attract investment from the private sector for infrastructure development of the country. Inaugurating the 19th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Federation of Contractors Association of Nepal (FCAN), here today, Prime Minister Deuba said that the government is ready to move ahead with the private sector on infrastructure development. He also urged the contractors to complete their project works on time and follow the quality standards during construction. “We are ready to solve the problems that you have raised, however you also have to complete projects on time abiding by the quality standards as mentioned in the contract paper,” he said. On the occasion, Commerce Minister Min Bishwakarma, and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa mentioned that contractors have a big role to play for the development of the country. They also suggested the contractors to complete their works seriously and on time. Similarly, Chairman of FCAN, Sharad Kumar Gauchan, said that the government should seriously look into all the issues raised by the contractors. “Due to multiple obstacles we have not been able to complete our work in the desired manner, hence the government needs to resolve those issues that have been raised by FCAN,” he said. On the occasion of its 19th AGM, FCAN also honoured Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kul Man Ghising and President of Non-Resident Nepali Association Shesh Ghale.
