Kathmandu, January 20:

Hundreds of people were stranded at the Thankot-Kalanki road section today because of the curfew inside the Ring Road of the Kathmandu valley.

Over 100 buses, micro-buses, trucks and other vehicles bound for different parts of the country were parked at the road section as they were not allowed to enter the Ring Road.

A woman, who came from Narayangarh to get admitted to a hospital in Kathmandu for a safe delivery, and her husband, Shyamlal Devkota, were among those stranded.

People, who were due to embark on overseas flights, have also been stranded. Ramsharan Basnet of Dolakha, who came to Kathmandu to board a Dubai-bound plane in the afternoon, was one among them. “A number of my friends, who were set to leave Nepal for foreign countries, have also been stranded,” he told this daily. People also accused police personnel of helping out their relatives and acquaintances while ignoring others in need. Latest reports said some of the stranded people reached their destinations when the curfew was relaxed.
