Nepali documentary ‘Sunakali’ screened in Kazan Film Festival

KATHMANDU: For the first time, a Nepali documentary film has participated in Kazan Film Festival in Russia. The documentary film 'Sunakali' directed by Nepali film director Bhojraj Bhat, has participated in the 13th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is being held in Russia. The film features a women's soccer team from Mugu in Western Nepal and their journey to the national championship, breaking free from the fate of the majority of girls in her village. The winners of the 13th Kazan Muslim Film Festival would be announced later today itself. The 13th edition of the festival has received over 700 visitors' entry from 61 countries. Among the entries, 60 of them were shortlisted to compete in six nominations. Kazan Muslim Film Festival is one of the largest film forums held annually in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia since 2005. The festival focuses on films supporting the ideas of peace-building, tolerance and humanity and promoting intercultural dialogue.
