The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index edged lower for another session on Friday, although daily trading turnover rebounded to Rs 3.9 billion on the final trading day of the week.

The benchmark NEPSE index slipped 2.00 points, or 0.07 percent, to close at 2,649.51 points.

The Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of Class 'A' companies, declined 0.12 percent, while the Float Index which evaluates the actively traded shares also fell 0.18 percent.

Market performance remained mixed, with a slight bias toward losses. Of the 13 sectoral indices, five posted gains, led by the Trading sector, which rose 1.08 percent. The remaining eight sectors ended in the red, although none recorded a decline of more than one percent.

A total of 7.73 million shares of 359 listed companies were traded through 39,546 transactions, taking the day's turnover to Rs 3.9 billion. The figure marks an increase from Rs 2.83 billion recorded on Thursday, though it remained below Rs 4.4 billion on Wednesday and Rs 4.36 billion on Tuesday.

Among individual stocks, 85 companies advanced, 170 declined, and 20 remained unchanged.

Despite the broader market decline, Snow Rivers Limited gained the maximum permissible 15 percent, hitting the upper circuit breaker. Taksar Pikhuwa Khola Hydropower Limited and Yambaling Hydropower Limited advanced 14.98 percent.

On the losing side, Kalika Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd was the biggest loser, dropping 10.76 percent, followed by Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd, which fell 9.45 percent.

The total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4.534 trillion at the close of trading.
