KATHMANDU, JUNE 1
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 26.72 points, or 0.96 percent, on Monday, closing at 2,755.37 points.
Along with the benchmark index, the sensitive index fell by 1 percent, while the float index declined by 0.77 percent.
In sectoral trading, most sub-indices ended in the red except Non-Life Insurance, which gained 1.37 percent, and the Others group, which rose by 3.36 percent.
The Trading sector recorded the highest loss of 6.14 percent. Other sectors also posted declines, including Hydropower (1.97 percent), Manufacturing and Processing (1.42 percent), Hotel and Tourism (1.40 percent) and Investment (1.22 percent).
During the session, total turnover stood at Rs 5.61 billion from the exchange of 13,383,816 shares of 349 listed companies through 63,719 transactions.
Market capitalisation reached Rs 4.701 trillion by the end of the trading day.
In individual stock performance, 35 companies advanced, 233 declined and two remained unchanged.
Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and Kalinchowk Hydropower Limited (KHPL) were the top gainers, both rising by 14.99 percent, while Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL) was the top loser, falling by 13.20 percent.
