Biratnagar, September 12 CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today accused Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba of taking advantage of the transitional phase. Talking to mediapersons at Biratnagar airport, Dahal expressed displeasure over Deuba’s decision to make a jumbo Cabinet, the largest in the country’s history. Dahal, who is also a former prime minister, said that Cabinet size would be as determined by the statute after the end of transition. “The statute has set the limit of the Cabinet at 25 and the government formed after the parliamentary poll will have a 25-member Cabinet,” Dahal added. Dahal complained that too much money was being spent on civic polls in Province 2. He rooted for directly-elected executive chief as contesting the polls had become too expensive. “So much money is being spent without any source. If the same situation continues, common people cannot contest the polls”, he added. Dahal said that time had come to mull over the electoral system. He commented that money and flaws of the electoral system had made polls in Province 2 unpredictable. Stating that Madhesi people had accorded love to his party and that new entrants into his party had increased, Dahal said people had concluded that people were against two forms of extremism. “Egoistic nationalism and nationalism for Madhes disintegration had created problems. But, both the troubles have vanished now,” he said. On the land purchase scandal at Nepal Oil Corporation, Dahal said if found guilty its head Gopal Khadka would be punished. “I have asked the Minister for Commerce and Supplies Shiv Kumar Mandal not to spare anyone if found guilty,” he added.
