Shyam Thapa feted

KATHMANDU: Dehradun District Football Association has awarded legendary Nepali footballer Shyam Thapa, coach of Nepali Youth Team, with the lifetime achievement award in Dehradun on Monday. Born in Nepal, Thapa began his footballing career in Dehradun. He also won the Subroto Cup with Gorkha School in 1964. East Bengal midfielder Jatin Bist was named the the footballer of the year on the occasion. — HNS

KCA formed

KATHMANDU: A 15-member Kathmandu District Cricket Association was formed on Thursday under the presidentship of Diwakar Ghale. Prafulla Vaidya and Hemanta Kafle are vice-president and secretary respectively. Shreekantha Dhungana is the treasurer and Basnata Raj Satyal joint-secretary. Other members are Upendra Bhattarai, Riddhi Bhakta Panta, Raju Basnyat, Binod Rajbhandari, Durga Nath Subedi, Rajan Ghale, Maheswor Shrestha, Manish Dhungel, Amit Bir Pandey and the secretary of District Sports Development Committee. — HNS
