Over 30 per cent votes cast in Kathmandu-2

KATHMANDU: The casting of votes is going on in a smooth manner in various polling centres of Kathmandu Constituency-2 since 7:00 am today. Of the 426 voters, 100 have already cast their votes at Jadibuti polling centre in the constituency. According to Chief Returning Officer Jaya Prasad Lamsal, the election is running smoothly. 'There is a separate line for people with disabilities,' he said. Elderly, pregnant women and people with disabilities have been given more priority, he added. Similarly, the election at Sarveshwor Secondary School in Palpakot polling centre, Kathmandu Constituency-2, has been running smoothly. The security has also been well maintained in the Constituency. Likewise, 32 per cent votes has been cast at the Saraswati Secondary School. Hundreds of voters have gathered outside the polling station. Of the 1,207 voters, 400 have cast their ballot from VS Niketan polling station. 'We expect 70 per cent votes cast,' said Chief Returning Officer Ganesh Acharya. 'The physically challenged ones are provided chairs to cast their votes.' Likewise, out of 1,366 voters 398 have cast their vote at the Minbhawan-based Nepal Commerce Campus. 'The voters are increasing,' said Chief Returning Officer Krishna Dhungana at the centre. Madhav Kumar Nepal from the CPN-UML, Surya Raj Acharya from Bibeksheel Sajha and Deepak Kuinkel from Nepali Congress are vying the election to the House of representatives from Kathmandu Constituency-2.
