Defeated mayoral candidate wins parliamentary seat

Rajbiraj, December 10 Madhes alliance candidate Chandra Kanta Chaudhary, who was defeated as mayoral candidate in local level elections, has won parliamentary polls from Saptari Constituency No 3. Chaudhary won with a margin of 3,183 votes against his closest rival Dinesh Kumar Yadav of Nepali Congress. Madhes alliance candidate Chaudhary secured 22,584 votes while Yadav got 19,401 votes. Chaudhary had filed independent candidacy for the post of mayor in Dakaneshwori Municipality in the civic polls. Chaudhary said he had filed the independent candidacy for the mayoral post after Nepali Congress party did not offer him election ticket. Similarly, Surya Narayan Yadav from Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal has won provincial polls in Constituency No 1. He won the election with 21,712 votes while his closest rival Ashok Kumar Mandal from the CPN-Maoist Centre got 18,225 votes.
