Kathmandu, December 22 Nepal Police bade farewell to temporary cops hired for making security arrangements in the provincial and parliamentary elections held on November 26 and December 7. A special function was organised in all district police offices to bid farewell to and thank temporary police personnel for maintaining law and order during the elections. The government had hired 98,268 temporary cops through Nepal Police and spent around Rs 2.52 billion for their salary, deployment, meals, uniform and travel in their 55-day service. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rs 1,693,157,640 was spent on their remunerations, Rs 343,938,000 on meals, Rs 98,268,000 on travel allowance and Rs 393,072,000 on uniform. They were entitled to remuneration (Rs 17, 230 per month), allowance, insurance and other facilities on par with a constable of Nepal Police, said Deputy Inspector General Manoj Neupane, central police spokesperson. The government had also made a provision of insuring the temporary cops. As many as three persons were killed in the line of duty. They were Rabindra Thagunna, Binod Chaudhary and Rajsingh Chaudhary.
