Who says community and financial background always drag one to fall behind spending whole of his life in pain and drudgery? Those who have zeal, determination and strength to tackle with all the hurdles emerge an example in society. And if talent is god-gifted then there is no one to stop. Kabiraj Chepang, a student of grade eight, has proved himself an example in the community. Kabiraj Chepang, who wants to be a social worker, is a student of grade eight in Shaktikhor VDC, is a brilliant student at Shaktikhor Secondary School.

Though born in a backward and poor family, his brilliance is much talked in and around the community. He is the first position holder in his class and is viewed as one of the future stars of the community.

Usually most of the students want to be engineers or doctors but this brilliant boy has chosen to be a social worker. “There is no need to tame inferiority complex of being Chepang. What helps us keep our head high is our morale and determination not the caste,” says Kabiraj.

Kabiraj is quite different from other students. Instead of hanging around playgrounds or fields as other students do, Kabiraj spends around 10-12 hours studying and if he has spare time, he is found around his teachers. Kabiraj, who has been staying at Praja hostel since he was studying in grade two, looks content while talking about hostel facility.

The hostel Kabiraj is living in is run by District Development Committee, Chitwan. The hostel has a capacity of 50 students out of whom 30 are from Chepang community.

The school has helped a lot to uplift the education standard of Chepangs and Jang Bahadur Chepang, Laxman Chepang, Magal Chepang and Bhim Bahadur Chepang after passing SLC from this school are studying +2.
