TAC, APF off to winning start in Super League

Lalitpur, January 7 Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Club won the Super League round matches of the 16th National Women’s Football League under the NSC Championship here at the ANFA Complex grounds today. TAC outplayed Nepal Police Club 4-1, while another departmental side APF thrashed Far-west 9-0. In the day’s first match, TAC skipper Krishan Khatri and Anjali Waiba scored two each, while NPC skipper Ghim Kumari Gurung scored the consolation goal. Waiba opened the scoring in the 20th minute when she converted a free-kick before NPC’s skipper Gurung levelled the tally in the 29th minute, also from free-kick. However, Waiba restored the lead in the 57th minute before Khatri scored a brace in the 70th and 75th minutes to seal the victory. TAC coach Adarsha Malla lauded his girls for putting in their best efforts. “We won the match as our players had good team work,” said Malla added. NPC’s coach Sanjeev Joshi said his players failed to stick with the team’s plan. In the day’s second match, APF thrashed Far-western Region riding on Sabitra Bhandari’s six goals. Anita Basnet scored a brace and Rekha Paudel added one. Bhandari put APF ahead in the 18th minute and added five more goals in the 49th, 73rd, 76th, 84th and 90th minutes. Bhandari’s last two goals came from penalties. Similarly, Basnet netted in the 56th and 60th minutes, while Paudel added a goal in the injury time of second half. On Tuesday, NPC will play against Far-western Region, while TAC will take on APF.
