‘Jajarkot viral fever under control’

Jajarkot, January 13 A team comprising doctors, the secretary at the health ministry, parliamentarians from Jajarkot today reached viral fever-plagued Junichade of Jajarkot. Member of the Parliament Shakti Bahadur Basnet, provincial assembly member Karbir Shahi, health secretary Pushpa Chaudhary and doctors reached the site on a Nepali Army helicopter to take stock of the situation. Viral fever has so far claimed 12 lives and affected more than 2,000 people in the district over the past few days. Of the decease, seven were children and five were elderly people who hailed from Majkot, Maugan, Syala and Deshipata among other places of the district. The team held discussion with patients, their families and doctors involved in the treatment today. The team returned to Kathmandu leaving behind two doctors and necessary medical supplies. Speaking at the district headquarters, Khalanga after the visit, health secretary Chaudhary said viral fever in the district was now under control and ruled out any possibility of the disease taking the form of an epidemic. District Public Health Office, Jajarkot, chief Ram Bahadur Nepali briefed the team on the latest health situation of the district. He said that over 100 warm clothes, 150 blankets and 700 warm caps had been distributed to children and the under-privileged. He also informed that there were six health camps catering health services in the affected areas.
