One dies from dengue in Chitwan

CHITWAN: A person has succumbed to dengue in Chitwan district. The deceased has been identified as a 79-year-old man from Handikhola, Manahari Rural Municipality-3 of Makwanpur district, according to Vector Controller at the Chitwan District Public Health Office, Ram KC. He was brought to Chitwan on January 4 for treatment. He died on January 9 while undergoing treatment at the district-based Bharatpur Hospital, according to KC. 57 out of 1,105 people who were screened for dengue infection were found to be infected with the condition during the current fiscal year. Similarly, 371 out of 1,670 people who were screened for scrub typhus were tested positive. The death toll from various diseases in the district has reached 10 with the latest death in this fiscal year. Three people had died due to scrub typhus in a gap of one month since mid-July. Similarly, one person died of chikungunya in August and another person in September, the District Public Health Office, Chitwan stated.
