Kathmandu, January 25 India’s Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri today said cooperation between Nepal and India would result in nothing but a win-win situation. Terming Nepal-India relationship ‘a saga of permanent friendship and partnership for progress’, Ambassador Puri said the two friendly neighbouring countries should continue to work to boost this relationship. Given age-old historic, societal, political, and economic relationship between Nepal and India, he said both the countries could benefit from the economic growth in respective countries. “You have a lot of benefits of the growth in India. This is an automatic plus for you. Similarly, when your economy grows, we also have advantage,” he said. “At the end of the day, what all we want is peace, stability and prosperity,”added the ambassador. Stating that Nepal did more than two-thirds of its trade with India, Ambassador Puri said the two countries should work to improve connectivity and boost business activities. On recent reports about India-Nepal border issues, Ambassador Puri said the ongoing Indian-Nepal joint survey had determined the location of the pillars. “These activities are all pursuant to joint surveys from both the sides and joint demarcation and agreements on street maps,” he said. Terming the recent provincial and parliamentary elections in Nepal ‘a historic constitutional step’, he said India as the world’s largest democracy was proud and happy that a friendly neighbour had taken steps towards multi-party democracy. He also said that the recent telephonic conversations between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal PM Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal were a signal that Nepal-India relationship is special. “Such contacts between the political leaderships have not taken place with any other country,” he said.
