Illegally transported cement taken into police custody in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Police took under control the cement that was illegally being transported to Bodhimai Municipality of Rautahat district from the Indian market across the border on Wednesday night. Dispute had arisen in Bankul of Bodhimai Municipality-7 when the cement, which was brought into the country from India’s Ghodasahan illegally through a secret way, was seized by the police. Police opened fire in the air to bring the situation under control after the illegal traders created obstruction in transportation of the cement to the District Police Office (DPO) in Gaur, according to Ram Kumar Dani, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the DPO, Rautahat. Dani further informed that they had taken into custody 33 sacks of cement that had been illegally brought into the district through the Indo-Nepal border. The locals had also started a protest when the police had taken away the cement that had been brought in a tractor. The locals protested outside the border police station at Bankul complaining that police had taken away the cement, which had been brought to construct houses. The police had charged baton in order to bring the crowd under control.
