Kathmandu, February 18:

Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati SJB Rana, in a message on the occasion of Democracy Day, has suggested a joint effort from all democratic forces to end the existing turmoil in the country.

Reiterating his party’s stance, Rana has emphasised on the participation of all the democratic forces. “The obstructed democratic process can end if all the constitutional forces make joint efforts towards a logical and peaceful ending,” Rana said today.

Saying that bringing back the country to democratic process can only solve all the existing crises, he appealed to the King to immediately initiate dialogue with the political forces. “I appeal the King to initiate dialogue with the political parties,” he said.

Meanwhile, former prime minister and chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa has drawn the attention of the “concerned parties” to make use of the Supreme Court (SC) decision on RCCC in making a consensus among the constitutional forces to end the current political as well as constitutional deadlock.

“Concerned parties, including the King and the political forces must utilise this opportunity as the basis for consensus like in those historic years — 1950 and 1990 - to end and resolve the constitutional question and the ongoing conflict,” said Thapa in a statement on the occasion of Democracy Day. “I am hopeful that this would surely help resolve the crises and restoring the democratic process,” he said.

Saying that there is still some time with us, Thapa urged the concerned parties to show utmost sincerity and gravity on the issue.

Thapa has also said that the historic SC decision on dissolving the RCCC has ended the question of “power balance”.
