Indian pair wins doubles title

Lalitpur, February 16 Indian pair of Naithaolin Calvin Golmei and Shashikant Rajput won the boys’ doubles title of the Nepal ITF Juniors U-18 Tournament Circuit-II here at the Satdobato Tennis Complex today. In the final match, the Indian pair claimed the title after Anurag Agarwal of India and Michal Wargocki of Poland retired on medical grounds after winning the first set 6-4. Meanwhile, Rutuja Chaphalkar of USA and Mio Kozaki of Japan defeated Indian duo of Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa and Prinkle Singh 6-3, 6-3 and advanced to the girls category final. They will face Yiming Dang of China and Manami Ukita of Japan. Similarly, Japan’s Daisuke Inagawa and Taisei Kageyama set the boys’ singles final date. Inagawa defeated Malaysia’s Jian Keong Takeshi Koey 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, while Taisei Kageyama beat South Korea’s Jiho Lee 6-1, 7-6(5). In girls’ category, Hong Kong’s Chui Kei Leung saw off India’s Prinkle Singh 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 to set the final meeting with Japan’s Mio Kozaki, who defeated China’s Yiming Dang 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. The reaming final matches will be played on Saturday.
