Chitwan, February 19 Two ward chairs died in a road accident at Shantichowk of Ratnanagar Municipality in Chitwan last night. The deceased have been identified as Bishwo Bijaya Basnet of Ward No 5 and Narendra Adhikari of ward No 4 of Khairahani Municipality. According to SP Dipak Thapa of District Police Office, Chitwan, both ward chairs died in the course of treatment in Chitwan Medial College. Basnet was pronounced dead last night whereas Adhikari died today. According to police, a pickup van en route to Ratnanagar from Khairahani collided with Khairahani Municipality’s jeep coming from the opposite direction. The municipality jeep driver Raj Kumar Adhikari, who was injured in the accident, is undergoing treatment in Chitwan Medical College. Meanwhile, police have arrested the pick-up van driver Suman Aryal from Suryapur of the district today. Police said Aryal’s van had also hit a cyclist at Belsi Chowk before the accident. The injured cyclist Ram Bahadur Darai of Khairahani is also receiving treatment in a local health facility.
