NDA, TAC advance to semis

Kathmandu, February 27 Shivam New Diamond Academy and Tribhuvan Army Club advanced to the women’s section semi-finals of the fourth NST-NVA Club Volleyball Championship here today. Both the teams registered straight set victories over their opponents in the Group A matches played at the NSC covered hall. NDA defeated Dhorpatan Sports Club 25-6, 25-16, 25-15, while TAC thrashed Padmadaya Youth Club of Chitwan 25-10, 25-7, 25-13. Both NDA and TAC made it to the semi-finals with six points from two matches. The game between these two teams on Wednesday will decide the group winners and runners-up. Nepal APF Club have already advanced to the last four as Group B winners. In men’s category, Help Nepal Sports Club, Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club and Tribhuvan Army Club entered the quarter-finals as the group winners of their respective pools. On Tuesday, Help Nepal defeated Western Regional Volleyball Association 25-12, 25-23, 25-14, while NPC beat Kavre District Volleyball Association 25-14, 25-12, 25-9. In another match, APF hammered Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-15, 25-12, 25-14. A total of 11 teams are competing in men’s section, while seven teams are in fray in women’s category. Top three finishers in both categories will get Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively, while the best players will get Rs 15,000 apiece. The tournament is organised by Nepal Volleyball Association under the sponsorship of Nepal Satellite Telecom.
