Kathmandu, March 1 Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club and Help Nepal Sports Club advanced to the men’s section semi-finals of the fourth NST-NVA National Club Volleyball Tournament here at the NSC covered hall today. In the day’s quarter-final matches, NPC defeated Dhorpatan Sports Club 25-11, 25-17, 25-21, while another departmental team, APF registered a 25-19, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21 victory over Manimukunda Volleyball Club of Rupandehi. Likewise, Help Nepal beat Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22, whereas TAC thrashed Nayabazar Samajik Club 25-10, 25-16, 25-9 to make it to the last four. On Friday, NPC will face Help Nepal, while TAC take on departmental rivals APF in the semi-final matches. In women’s section, Nepal APF Club defeated Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-6, 25-7, 25-4 in the last league round match. APF had already made it to the semi-finals along with Shivam New Diamond Academy, Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club. In Friday’s semi-finals, Shivam NDA will play against NPC, while APF will take on departmental rivals TAC. The tournament is being organised by Nepal Volleyball Association under the sponsorship of Nepal Satellite Telecom. Top three teams in both categories will receive Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 75,000 respectively. The player-of-the-series will earn Rs 15,000 each, while six best individuals — blocker, lifter, spiker, libero, server and coach — will earn Rs 5,000 apiece.
