Gold Star renews deal with DCA

Kathmandu, March 25 Kiran Shoes Manufacturers today renewed the sponsorship deal for the second RuslanDhangadhi Premier League slated for March 31 to April 13 at the SSP grounds in Dhangadhi. Kiran Shoes Director Bidushi Rana and Dhangadhi Cricket Academy President Subash Bahadur Shahi signed the Memorandum of Understanding amidst a function. As per the MoU, Kiran Shoes will provide the  DCA with Rs 1.6 million — Rs 900,000 in cash and Rs 700,000 in kinds. In return, the Gold Star will be the footwear partner of the DPL. Kiran Shoes will also provide golden shoe to the most valuable player of the tournament. Kiran Shoes Brand Manager Iraj Shrestha informed that the shoe was made up of silver with golden plate. Rana said tournaments like DPL would provide platform to new cricketers and pave the way for the national team. “Since the country achieved the One Day International status, the tournament has become even greater and the event will help in producing new players and also provide them with the opportunity to reach to the national level,” said Rana. “We hope the agreement will be helpful in developing cricket in the country. DPL is not just a tournament, but getting a chance to play in the event is a matter of pride for cricketers,” said Rana, who added that golden shoe was being awarded to motivate players. “There is a trend of providing golden boot in international tournaments and we just wanted to follow that.” Similarly, DCA President Shahi said the tournament hoped to achieve new heights with such  support. “The company has committed of continuing the sponsorship in coming years as well and I believe that will help us in gaining new height in the field of cricket.” A total of six teams — Kathmandu Goldens, CYC Attariya, Mahendranagar United, Team Chauraha Dhangadhi, Biratnagar Kings and Rupandehi Challengers — are competing in the event. Top two teams of the tournament will receive Rs 2.5 million and one million rupees respectively. Similarly, teams finishing third and fourth will get Rs 300,000 and Rs 200,000 respectively. Player of the series will get TVS Apache motorbike, while man of the match in every game will earn Rs 10,000.
