Anamnagar fire: Pylon bursts into flames due to short circuit

KATHMANDU: An electricity pylon caught fire in front of a Big Mart store at the Gravity Centre building, in Anamnagar, Kathmandu on Wednesday night. A team of security personnel from Metropolitan Police Circle, Singha Durbar reached the site at around 11:00 pm yesterday, police informed. Local residents gathered at the side of the road as the wires in the pylon, which is said to have short-circuited, burst into flames during the rainfall last night. A team of fire brigade with the help of a team of technicians from Nepal Electricity Authority and police took the fire under control at 11:35 pm yesterday, police told THT Online. No human casualties and injuries have been reported. Wires and hoardings have been completely damaged in the blaze. Meanwhile, the NEA personnel have carried out repairing and maintenance while there is a power outage in the area. (UPDATED) Fire breaks out at Anamnagar KATHMANDU: A fire broke out at Anamnagar, just opposite the country's administrative centre, Singha Durbar, in Kathmandu late on Wednesday night. Security personnel had arrived at the incident site but fire engines were yet to reach the site at 11:00 pm. Residents of nearby houses gathered around the streets as the flames, which is said to have started due to a short circuit, started to build up. No injuries have been reported. Details to follow.
