Butwal, March 28 Ruslan Three Star Club came from a goal down to defeat Himalaya FC of Malaysia 2-1 and advanced to the semi-finals of the third Madan Bhandari International Gold Cup Football Tournament here today. Three Star’s foreign recruits Lawal and Ajayi Martins scored a goal each after Tirtha Basnet had put Himalayan ahead. After a goalless first half, Basnet broke the deadlock in the 84th minute. However the visiting team’s joy did not last long as Lawal levelled the scores two minutes later. Martins then sealed Three Star’s semi-final berth scoring in the injury time. Three Star will now face hosts MadanBhandari Sports Academy in the last four match. Martins was named the man of the match and he got Rs 10,000. On Thursday, Nepal Police Club will take on Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club in the fourth and last quarter-final match. The winners and runners-up of the tournament will get Rs 1.5 million and Rs 750,000 respectively, while the best player will earn Rs 50,000.
