Fewa New Year festival kicks off

Pokhara, April 11 The 15th Fewa New Year Festival has begun from today in Komagane Park on the banks of Phewa lake, Pokhara. Western Regional Hotel Association Pokhara is the organiser of the festival that is being celebrated with the slogan ‘Save Lake Fewa’. According to WRHA Pokhara Chairperson and festival coordinator Bikal Tulachan, the festival focuses on culture, tourism and food. “The main attraction of Pokhara, Fewa lake is shrinking year by year due to pollution and other reasons. The festival seeks to promote tourism here by spreading awareness about the conservation of the lake at the same time,” said WRHA General Secretary Ganeshraj Pahari, adding that the five-day festival is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors. There are a total of 40 stalls including 10 cuisine-related and the remaining are commercial stalls. The organiser has offered four different packages with concession for visitors. Domestic and foreign cuisines, various cultural and musical programmes, boat racing, comedy shows and dance will be the main attractions of the festival. Yeti Brewery’s Arna Beer is the main sponsor and Nepal Tourism Board is the promoter of the event.
