KATHMANDU: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lal Babu Pandit has asserted that the government will not allow Non Resident Nepalis to repatriate money received after selling their ancestral property to foreign countries. Speaking at an interaction programme oraganised on the occasion of 12th Democracy Day in Kathmandu, on Tuesday, Minister Pandit said, 'Those people who have renounced Nepali citizenship certificates to gain foreign countries' citizenship would lose their right to ancestral property in Nepal.' Meanwhile, the government is preparing for the same, added Pandit. Speaking on a different note, Minister Pandit also said that the government would not leave any stones unturned to honour democracy and republic in the nation. 'Many people have contributed and sacrificed their lives for attaining democracy and republicanism in Nepal. For the rights of martyrs' families and victims, I myself will urge the government to review the benefits given to them by the state during a meeting of Council of Ministers in upcoming days,' Minister Pandit shared. He also stressed that the rights of people have been guaranteed by the constitution and urged all to unite together for the development of the nation. Minister Pandit, who has taken stance on voluntary retirement of civil servants, has warned them to report to duties assigned by the government. Earlier, as many as 1,300 civil servants had applied for voluntary retirement; their pension books are in the process of being prepared. However, those who applied for voluntary retirement later on, their applications would not be accepted, except for routine retirement, Minister Pandit clarified.
