Enrolment drive gains pace in Kavre

Kavre, April 27 Ministers and local representatives from Kavre are helping children get enrolled in community schools and taking their guardianship to make the student enrolment campaign successful. The government had launched the student enrolment campaign on the occasion of Nepali New Year with an aim to enroll the children, who are deprived of education and are of school going age, in government schools. The campaign has been gaining momentum in Kavre district. State Minister for Communication and Information Gokul Baskota admitted five-year-old Rijan Danuwar of Panchkhal Municipality in Grade one at local Ajad Secondary School in the second week of April in Kavre. Minister Baskota had managed required uniform and stationery items for Danuwar. Enroling him in Grade one, minister Baskota announced that he would be paying all the expenses for Rijan’s education up to Grade 12. Provincial assembly member Laxman Lamsal also took the guardianship of Saugat Tamang, who was admitted in Grade one at Shree Ram Secondary School in Panchkhal. Likewise, PA members Chandra Lama and Basundhara Humagain also admitted one child each and accepted their guardianship in the district. Panchkhal Mayor Mahesh Kharel and Namobddha Mayor Tanka Prasad Sharma also admitted a child each this week. Ram Krishna Adhikari, Chairperson of Namobuddha Municipality-10 also pledged to bear all the study expenses of a sixth grader until she passes Grade 12. Likewise, District Education Coordination Unit Chief Dr Dipendra Gurung also held the guardianship of Sabina Danuwar. As per the school statistics maintain at the district, the school enrolment rate of children between five to nine years of age is 98 per cent. It means at least two per cent children of this age group are still out of schools while the school enrolment rate of children between 5 to 12 years of age is 92.1 per cent. It means remaining 7.1 per cent children of this age group are still out of schools in the district.
