KATHMANDU: Ending the long-standing dispute between two karate federations in karate, the selection committee formed by National Sports Council to pick the players for Asian Games selected eight players for the 18th Asiad slated for August 18 to September 2 in Indonesia.

In an open selection which was agreed by all parties, Nepal Police Club's Sonam Lama (55kg), Kathmandu's Nabin Rasaili (67kg) and Nepal Police Club's Diwash Shrestha (84kg) won their respective weight categories in men's section, while Tribhuvan Army Club's Parshuram Bastola was picked up in individual kata.

Similarly, Nepal APF Club's Anu Adhikari (50kg), NPC's Sunita Maharjan (61kg) and TAC's Rita Karki (68kg) were picked up in women's kumite, while NPC's Chanchala Danuwar won the individual kata.
