Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon set for May 29

Kathmandu, May 16 Himalayan Expedition is organising the 15th Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon in Khumbu region on May 29. The event will feature three events — full marathon of 41.195km, ultra marathon of 60km and half marathon of 21km, informed the organisers at a press meet today. The full marathon will have open, women and foreigners categories. The top three finishers in open category will take home Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 75,000, while the top three athletes in women category will get Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. First, second and third finishers in foreigners section will earn Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. Likewise, top three athletes in ultra marathon will get cash purse of Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, while half marathon winners will get Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. The full marathon and ultra marathon will start from the Everest Base Camp at the altitude of 5,400m and end at Namche Bazaar, at the altitude of 3440m. Half Marathon will begin from Dingboche (altitude 4410m) and end at Namche Bazaar.
