Everest climbing season over, 361 mln revenue, over 400 made the ascend

KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has received Rs 361 million in royalty revenue from Mt Everest summiteers this season. The climbing season which began sometime around mid May is now over.

Over 400 people ascended the world's highest peak this spring. Department of Tourism (DoT) had issued climbing permits to 346 expedition members, along with 457 high-altitude workers representing 38 teams in the season.

Loss of human lives this season stood same as the last year with six deaths. Multiple records were set by various individuals and groups during the summit season.
