Kavre, June 1 State Minister for Information and Communications Technology Gokul Baskota today said that development based on contract model was not acceptable. Addressing a programme organised by District Cooperative Union, Kavre, in Banepa, Baskota stated that he was taken by surprise by some lawmakers’ remarks that they should be allowed to spend the budget. “Some lawmakers shed tears in the Parliament, saying that they should be allowed to spend budget in their constituency which is ridiculous,” Baskota stated. He argued that lawmakers should not be given special prerogative to spend budget in their constituency if transparency was to be maintained. Baskota, who is also the government’s spokesperson, commented that budget presented by Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada would lay the foundation for robust economic growth in the country. Bista noted that it was the duty of the opposition party to oppose and protest against the budget. He urged all and sundry to have faith in the government’s commitment to development and prosperity. State Minister Bista claimed that the government was committed to operating Kerung-Kathmandu-Lumbini and Dhulikhel-Nagdhunga railway lines.
