Kathmandu, March 11:
Nepali Congress (NC) today decided to go for district as well as regional level people’s awareness programmes beginning from March 14 through April 2. The decision was taken as part of the preparation for the next phase of the stir for the restoration of constitutional process. The stir begins on April 8.
The decision was taken at the end of the informal meeting of the NC Central Working Committee (CWC). The meeting, which was headed by NC vice-president Sushil Koirala, has, among others, named party leaders who will be heading to respective districts as central representatives.
Apart from naming 14 zonal teams, the party has named central leaders who will be visiting all the 12 constituencies in the capital. However, those named as zonal and parliamentary constituency moderators are all known Koirala supporters, a move which is expected to alianate those who favour more independent observers.
A valley coordination committee has been constituted under the coordination of party central working committee (CWC) member Arjun Narsingh KC. CWC leaders Laxman Prasad Ghimire, Dilendra Prasad Badu, former Bhaktapur district president Lekhnath Neupane, Kathmandi district president Tirtha Ram Dangol, Lalitpur party president Chandra Maharjan, Bhaktapur party president Mahesh Shrestha, former Lalitpur party president Jagat Raj Shakya and former Kathmandu city party president Surendra Mishra are the members of the committee.
“Representatives will coordinate and organise various programmes,” NC office secretary Sobakhar Parajuli said, adding that the party has also directed the concerned representatives to organise programmes that will help boost the spirit of the seven-party front.
