KATHMANDU: Action has been taken against examinations controller Ambika Prasad Regmi at the Office of the Controller of Examinations, acting on the report submitted by an investigation committee constituted by the government to probe into the technical errors found in the results of Secondary Education Examinations (SEE), the grade 10 final examinations.
Regmi has been called back to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on deputation, indicating departmental action. Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel took this decision soon after the investigation committee submitted its report to the ministry on Sunday.
Executive Director at the Curriculum Development Centre, Krishna Prasad Kapri, has been designated as the Controller of Examinations until further arrangement, the ministry stated.
'Further action would be taken after studying the report in detail. For now, the examinations controller has been called back to the ministry,' Minister Pokharel said.
The ministry has not specifically made it clear if the action of calling back Regmi to the ministry was a departmental action against him or only his transfer. The ministry has also not yet made the report public and it is not known whether other employees at the Office of the Controller of Examinations above or below the rank of the examinations controller would be facing action as well.
The ministry, on June 25, had constituted a three-member investigation committee headed by administrative officer Tulasi Prasad Thapaliya with the Teachers Service Commission to investigate into the technical errors seen in SEE results which the Office of the Controller of Examinations published on June 23.
